Identity Theft: How To Get Back Your Inheritance

spiritual-identity-theftGod Hears Your Cries

There are many who are growing weary in this season. Depression and confusion have tried to enter and cause you to give up. Your eyes have looked at the swirling storm. As you have diverted your eyes to look at the storm they have been removed from the One who calms the storm and allows you to walk on the water. We are to get our eyes back off the storm for this is an unprecedented time of breakthrough for our nation, our cultures and for us personally for those who will stand, repent and forgive.

For this is what He has spoken: “Your cries have come up before me and I have heard, and it has brought release and enactment.”

Releasing Forgiveness, Standing in the Gap

It’s important to note what is happening in our nation at this time as the remnant all over the world have united to pray. Here is just one example:

On Oct. 21, 2016, 1,000 Native American tribes from the United States and Canada came together with intercessory prayer, and offered forgiveness to the U.S. government for breaking treaties with their ancestors during a public ceremony on the National Mall.

They offered forgiveness where it had not been requested and where there had been no apology.

This is key to the release; for in doing so it released a blessing to our nation that was under a curse. As they brought this release of forgiveness, it subsequently released a blessing upon those who stood in the gap, along with their families, to break off the curse that had stolen their inheritance and their identity. This was a release both corporately and personally for those who will walk in it. The petitions and cries of the remnant who have sought His face and humbled themselves before Him has been heard around the world. Believers are praying as never before as in the spirit realm a battle rages as the spirit of pride, offense and deception have been released to withhold and prevent against the Believers.

Yet we have a righteous Judge.

Continue to Petition Before the Lord

Luke 18:6-8, Listen to what the unjust judge (the withholder) says: “Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!”

And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?

As I prayed, I understood that this was about what was stolen. The first word I received was INHERITANCES.

Inheritances have been stolen personally, from us culturally and from our nation, but He said as we repent and forgive, the withholders will have to give back, and that which has been stolen will be released back to us and be restored. For some, that is from their Native American/First Nation heritage. For others it is from their African-American heritage. For some it is from their identity as a woman.

In America it is the destiny of our nation and our call that is trying to be stolen. This includes many, many areas and God is speaking it to your heart as you read this where it touches you.

Forgive, Even Where Forgiveness Has Not Been Requested

As forgiveness which has not been requested for is given, the generational curses and cultural curses will be broken (the withholder will not have any authority to withhold anymore). Also, any areas where you have experienced personal theft and withholding of that which was yours, is being released back to you and He said, “It is coming back DOUBLE.” (Photo via Unsplash)

Not only is it coming from generations back, but that which you have seen in your lifetime in your personal life is being released back to you. Call it forth. Those things that were withheld and stolen are coming back, are coming forth.

My family is from the Cherokee Tribe, as are many in the Oklahoma area. Even in registering for cards with the Tribe, we discovered a “theft.” My grandfather was listed as a different generation than all his siblings, thus lowering the percentage of his rights and heritage. This theft had been passed down, so every subsequent generation is now listed as “less” than what they are. This affected my mother, myself and my kids and has been called “irreversible.” We could do nothing about it. It was as if our hands were tied.

As I considered this word, I can look back at my own life where I have seen unusual theft in my family that I seemingly could do nothing about. My inheritance from my father to my brother’s and I was stolen, as was my inheritance from my paternal grandfather and grandmother. We watched it happen, but it was as if our hands were tied to prevent a reversal of thetheft.

Restore What Has Been Stolen

As the Lord spoke this word to look back over the past, it was clear that those thefts weren’t coincidence, but from generational theft. Many of you have experienced that as you look through your life and that of your ancestors. You have seen things withheld and even stolen and it seemed you could do nothing about it.

And here is one of the most important areas of theft. Identity theft. I’m not just talking in the natural (although for some that is true) but in the spiritual.

Many have walked through life with an understanding that God was your Father, yet without true understanding of the inheritance that came with that identity. You experienced identity theft as your true identity was stolen or never imparted to you (withheld) and you have never yet walked in the blessing that comes with your inheritance. This is about who you are, your call and your destiny. It is time to call it back and call it forth.

There have been those who have been abusers and the “withholders” in your life and their words and actions have beaten you down and stolen who you are and who you are called to be. You have wondered why you can’t seem to see breakthrough and why people can’t “see” you. You have felt invisible and unable to reach the blessing that you know is there and yet it has seemed out of reach and as if you could do nothing to change it.

God is Restoring Your True Identity

He is restoring identity and inheritance, for it was yours all along. I saw a picture of many who have tried to protect themselves from ongoing attack and abuse and wrapped themselves in what seemed like a blanket wrapping it closely around you. But that very thing you have wrapped around you has become your identity (which could be a relationship or thing) and it is actually what continues to hold you into that place of dishonor and lack of identity. Throw off that “blanket.” (Photo via Unsplash)

Blind Bartimaeus was wrapped in a robe, which I’ve heard it said was what identified him as a blind man. As the Lord walked by Bartimaeus, he cried out to the Lord for pity (also translated as mercy).

Mark 10:49-52 says, They called out to the blind man and said, “Don’t be afraid! Come on! He is calling for you.” (Another version says, “Take courage! Arise!”)

The man threw off his coat as he jumped up and ran to Jesus. Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man answered, “Master,I want to see!” Jesus told him, “You may go. Your eyes are healed because of your faith.”

This is what the Lord is saying, “Throw off the robe. Take courage and arise. For your identity is no longer hidden but being restored and that which has been withheld along with your identity and inheritance is being restored.

Where Do You Need To Offer Forgiveness Where It Has Never Been Asked For?

“As you do this, you will release yourself from the tie that has bound you to that “robe” and which has continued to hold back your inheritance and blessing. The withholders can and will be removed as you release them from your life and throw off that ‘robe.’

“As you stand in prayer to battle for the destiny of your nation, you are also doing battle for the destiny of your families and children. The battle is one and the same. Many have grown weary and are on the verge of giving up. Do not take this battle on yourself. The battle is Mine. You need to take time to rest and restore in Me and then step back in. While you must pray, this is not about what you do, but about what I do.”(Photo via Vimeo)

When you offer forgiveness where it has never been asked and bring repentance for those who have been unable, you set in motion the release.

There is a sound of the abundance of rain. The heavens have opened and the rain has begun with an outpouring of His Spirit of revival for our nations, cities, families and personally. Take courage and arise!

Lord, we offer forgiveness for those who have yet to ask for it. We offer forgiveness to those who have withheld and stolen. We repent for the blood that has been shed, the abuse and dishonor that has been poured out against You and Your Name. We stand in the gap for those who are unable or unwilling to forgive, and we ask you to forgive us for areas of unforgiveness we have held in our heart or any anger/rage, bitterness or hate that we have allowed to take root.

We forgive those who have withheld and stolen our identity as a people, from our ancestors and from our families, and we release the power of forgiveness and with it a release of the blessings and inheritances that have been withheld or stolen.

We throw off the “robe” of blindness and take on our identity in You. We ask that the blinders that have come from pride, offense and deception and which have blanketed our land would be removed and that eyes would be opened. That there would be a release of your Spirit and it would be poured out as never before. (Reprinted from “The Elijah List” article November 14, 2016. To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)
